Artwork Title: 'Rove Beetle'

Artwork Location: Templeogue Rd, Terenure Road, Dublin 6W

Artwork Description: ‘Rove Beetle’ introduces the humans of South Dublin to Staphylinus dimidiaticornis, a beetle which lives in dense wet grasslands near the Dodder and Tymon Park. Sadly, this stunning creature is in decline. This portrait, paired with notes on its ecology, aims to remind us that even small urban green spaces are worth treasuring.

Biography: I am a Dublin-based artist/entomologist with a BA in Fine Art (NCAD) and an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation (TCD). My mission is to reintroduce people to nature through colourful encounters with insects, in person, print and paint. I met Staphylinus dimidiaticornis while surveying ecologically interesting sites for South Dublin County Council. This summer I will partake in the Bee Time artist residency in the UK.
