Artwork Title: ‘From Dublin to Hollywood", Tribute to Cairbre the Lion

Artwork Location: Prussia Street, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7

Artwork Description: Cairbre the Lion, born in Dublin zoo in 1919, became the first lion used in the opening titles of MGM films in 1924. Cairbre’s image was used on silent movies, and when MGM began making ‘talkies’, the Dub was replaced as the mascot as his roar had not been recorded.


Biography: "Kevin O'Brien is a co-founder of the street art and guerilla gardening group Mad About Cork. He has painted many electrical boxes & murals in Cork city with the group, often with historic themes and characters.”
