The Golden Arrow was a car built specifically to achieve a new land speed record, which in 1929 was 207 miles per hour. It was driven by Henry Segrave , the son of Charles Segrave whose family owned Cabragh House which stood at the junction of Rathoath Road and Faussagh Avenue. Canon Burke flats now stands where Cabragh House once stood. The car set a new record of 231 miles per hour. Beautifully constructed in the Art Deco style of the time, the car was put into an auto museum and only has a total of 18 miles on the clock. Henry Segrave sadly passed away the following year trying to set a new waterspeed record.
I enjoy painting as a hobby and think Dublin Canvas is a fantastic initiative to brighten up local areas.
