Griffith Avenue is such a magical place and the trees give it so much of its character. The wide paths and old trees make it feel like a hybrid between a park and a road, it’s such an enjoyable place for a stroll. There are many schools and colleges in the area and I love the idea of playing with scale and taking everyday objects out of context so I would like to paint the box as if it is a giant book. As a child, I lived in the house across the road from this box and have many fond memories of the road and the games we used to play in our front garden. For this reason, I would like for the book to be a children’s storybook that conveys the idea of imagination and excitement. As a graphic designer, I have a strong interest in typography so while I know that ideally designs should not by type heavy I believe in this context it works well.
I am an Irish graphic designer who specialises in packaging and product development. After graduating from NCAD, I relocated to Barcelona to complete a masters in Retail Branding and Commercial Design in ELISAVA. Upon my return to Dublin, I began my dream job as the sole Graphic Designer for Avoca. There I dipped her toes into (read was thrown in the deep end of) all aspects of graphic design. For over three years, I was responsible for product packaging, branded packaging, homeware design, textile design and ephemera. In 2016, I set up my own company and now work for a number of high profile clients developing branding and own-brand products.
