Chapelizard/South Circular Road, Phoenix Road, Dublin 8
This design is an optical illusion style flower that I designed for outside the Phoenix Park. I was conscious of the grey stone wall of the park, and I wanted to create something eye-catching, with bright colours and a trippy dimensional style that draws the audience in.
Having painted two boxes for the Dublin Canvas project 2018, it has now become a healthy obsession of mine to paint again this year. I am a self-taught artist, blessed with a skill for art from a very young age. I have a proton deficiency meaning I have trouble differentiating between colours, but I have never let it hold me back as an artist. I love to challenge myself in particular with bright vivid colours. My impairment makes my art all the more special, because I don't see things how everyone else does! I work full time, but in my spare time I do commissions, murals and various crafts. I have an obsession with creating patterns, especially leaf patterns in abstract colours. I use art as a form of meditation/therapy and I enjoy creating optical illusion style images and dazzling designs that would contrast with the grey Dublin sky and brighten the streets.
