Artwork description:

This artwork depicts Buddha reincarnated as female. The colour scheme is blue to represent the calmness and serenity associated with the “aum” chant. The location of this piece is suitable because along with The Elbow Room Yoga Studio around the corner, Namaste India eatery is also just a few metres away. Between the charming aromas coming from the Indian Takeaway and the yoga community in the area, this piece has the potential to bind these two factors in a unique way. The passers-by can have experience that encompasses the visual stimulant of the artwork, the fragrant smells of spices and the delightful atmosphere of the Smithfield area.

Biography:

My name is Ciana and I’m a 24-year-old artist and yoga practitioner. I am a Hatha Vinyasa yoga teacher and like so many others, my ability to fulfill my practice was limited in the wake of the pandemic. Although it was challenging, I continued to produce artwork and considered ways in which I could utilise both art and yoga - this piece being one of them.
