Artist: Aprar Elawad & Andy Howell
Artwork Title: ‘Wild City’
Artwork Location: Trinity Primary School, Ballymun Road, Ballymun, Dublin 9.
Artwork Description: The city is alive with wildlife. Urban foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels and gulls pick through our bins and snatch food right out of our hands, nest on our rooftops and fill the air with their calls. Our ‘Wild City’ artwork is a reminder of the creatures we share our environment with, a ‘Where’s Wally?’ of city wildlife where passers-by can pause to scan the box and find each of the listed animals hiding between buildings, under bins and over rooftops.
Biography: We are a team of two architecture graduates whose interests and skills stretch far beyond the design of buildings. We both currently work with the OPW on their graduate programme, and in our spare time, last year completed a project called “To Let” – a satirical artistic installation for Electric Picnic which saw us fit out an apartment inside a caravan... and market it as the latest in new home design and construction. Working in partnership, we go by two ays.
